Are you sure you don't mean that it gets < 1 mile per gallon? As in, perhaps, 200 ft. per gallon? Negative miles per gallon would imply that the vehicle's engine is adding gasoline to the tank rather than using it. For example, if your vehicle gets 20 mpg, that means it removes one gallon of gasonline from the tank per 20 miles to burn in the engine. If your car got negative 20 mpg, that would be a negation of 20 mpg, right? Therefore, your car would be adding one gallon of gas to the tank per 20 miles if it was getting negative mpg.
